Products & Services
FinePoint
FinePoint products provide high performance pen input solutions for makers of tablet PCs, smartphones, kiosks and a host of other computing products. We offer the only digital solution, providing a significant advancement in performance and cost over current analog products.

Our technology has a rich history in pen computing. Development of our electromagnetic pen input technology dates back to 1991 when Kurta Corp. formed its pen system division and entered the pen-based computer market. Kurta quickly became a market leader. In 1995, Mutoh Industries acquired Kurta. All of Kurta's pen technology and patents are retained under the FinePoint brand.

In 2005, we introduced our digital platform. Today, we have made significant advancements in our digitizer technology and are poised to help our customers advance with leading-edge pen input solutions.

Digital is a core differentiator, and critical advantage versus traditional analog products.

Key requirement   Advantage of InPlay's digital technology
Available
with analog?
User programmability
InPlay’s Digital technology enables the end-user to program key features of the pen such as ink color, sensitivity, eraser/button functions, etc

None of these requirements
supported by
analog pens.
Low cost
InPlay’s technology leverages standard components (no ASICs) and offers the lowest total cost solution on the market today
Feature expandability
Digital technology provides enhanced, configurable communications between the screen and the pen, allowing the addition of a broad set of features
In field upgradeability
Reduced design cycle times and costs resulting from remote firmware feature upgrades (no or minimal hardware change)
Low power consumption
Intelligent power management is used to power the pen only when required. Unique power loop configuration enables charge pulse skipping mode resulting in lower power consumption.
Precision/high resolution
Digital technology provides for advanced adaptive filtering, ultimately resulting in less EMI tuning effort, reduced/eliminated need for shielding, low jitter and higher display edge performance.
